ACND Prep Speech and Debate Soars on an Eagle’s Wings
Another Golden Eagle lands at Archbishop Curley Notre Dame in the hands of Junior Erdina Francillon. With the title of State Champion already under her belt, the extremely driven and very humble St. Mary’s graduate sets her eyes on the National Championship.
In a process she calls “grueling but rewarding”, Erdina Francillon won first place in Original Oratory at the Florida Forensic League State Championship. Erdina’s winning speech examines the validity of Bill Cosby’s recent controversial comments. She concludes that parents must play a larger role in their child’s education.
As a group, the Archbishop Curley Notre Dame Speech and Debate Team ranked an impressive third in Overall Performance. Individually, the Knights were a force to be reckoned with.
In Group Interpretation, Beatrice Jourdain, Alexandra O’Neale, Christopher Avina, Hali Neal, Angelica Gacayan, Bianca Lyn Chery, Amber Coutard and Senior Andrew Calderon finished sixth. Senior Kristen McNair finished fourth in Oral Interpretation and Junior Max Gaston placed only two spots behind his classmate Erdina Francillon in Original Oratory.
The Archbishop Curley Notre Dame Speech and Debate team
competes again this weekend in the Catholic Forensic League Grand
Tournament. The top six winners from
this competition qualify to compete in the National Tournament in
